Our staff and doctors recently took part in CPR and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Training.
The day was split into CPR Training for all of our staff in the morning, allowing for all of the staff to review and update their skills to ensure that they are equipped to help with an emergency situation.
Once the basics of the CPR course were completed, our office staff were able to go home, but the doctors stayed for more in depth training in working together to attend to any emergency situations that may arise in the surgery.
The doctors participated in some theory work, discussing technique, instruments, and products that are available for use in an emergency situation, as well as the best items to use and when to use them. Once they had completed the theory work, they were then able to take part in a simulation in which a patient had collapsed in the waiting room. Working as a team, Dr Kel Ibe, Dr Davin Ryan, Dr Fola Adebanjo and Dr Ming Lim worked to treat the patient and ensure his survival. This included having to deal with other patients and relatives in the waiting room, as well as working through the problems that arise from a collapsed patient.
The doctors had to assess the situation to remove any dangers, before beginning CPR while they were preparing the defibrillator and the rest of the items they needed to ensure that the patient kept an open airway. The doctors were able to work together very well and they were able to stabilize and save the patient.
This training ensures that all of our staff are able to work as a team to ensure that all of our patients have access to the best care if ever they were to be involved in an emergency in our clinic.
